On Thursday 25 april at 16:00 at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, Jurriaan Benschop presented The Berlin Issue and elucidated the choices of these painters. After that, he talked to Aquil Copier, initiator of the painting pamphlet (and a painter himself), who by now published 11 issues of PRESENTeert. You are most welcome!

Jurriaan Benschop en Aquil Copier presenteren het Berlin Issue van het pamflet over schilderkunst PRESENTeert


PRESENTeert is een onafhankelijk en gestencild platform voor schilderkunst, hedendaagse kunst en cultureel debat, opgericht in 2009. Het pamflet wil de ideeën en inzichten van schilders, los van hun visuele werk, tonen. De ideeën kunnen gerelateerd zijn aan de schilderkunst, maar reiken bij voorkeur voorbij het schilderen alleen.
Gastredacteur - en Van Eyck adviseur - Jurriaan Benschop nodigde 9 schilders uit Berlijn uit om over hun helden in de schilderkunst te schrijven: Thomas Scheibitz, Valérie Favre, Adriana Molder, Sofie Bird Møller, Maarten Janssen, Katharina Otto, Mark Lammert, Michael Markwick en Jorge Queiroz. In korte en originele bijdragen schrijven zij over het werk van o.a. El Greco, Mark Rothko, Jasper Johns, Edward Munch en Robert Ryman.
Op donderdag 25 april om 16:00 zal Jurriaan Benschop het Berlin Issue presenteren en de keuzes van deze schilders toelichten. Vervolgens gaat hij in gesprek met de initiatiefnemer van het pamflet over schilderkunst, Aquil Copier (zelf ook schilder) die inmiddels 11 afleveringen van PRESENTeert liet verschijnen. Jurriaan Benschop and Aquil Copier present the Berlin Issue of the painting pamphlet PRESENTeertPRESENTeert is an independent and mimeograph printed (in Dutch: gestencild) platfom for painting, contemporary art and cultural debate, founded in 2009. The goal is to present painters’ ideas and visions, apart from their visual works. They can be related to painting but preferably reach further then painting alone. 
Guest editor - and Van Eyck advisor - Jurriaan Benschop invited 9 Berlin painters to write about their heros in painting: Thomas Scheibitz, Valérie Favre, Adriana Molder, Sofie Bird Møller, Maarten Janssen, Katharina Otto, Mark Lammert, Michael Markwick and Jorge Queiroz. In short and original contributions they write about the work of a.o. El Greco, Mark Rothko, Jasper Johns, Edward Munch and Robert Ryman.

Exhibition Dutch Treat in Berlin




D(e)utch Treat.  22 artists based in Berlin and/or Netherlands, working in the area of non-objective and abstract art. 


The circle of exhibitors is defined by two brackets, one of location and one of content. Almost all participants live and work in Berlin or have lived or worked in there, or they now live in the Netherlands but maintain connections with Berlin. The exhibition focuses on the strong visual character of the artworks and their positions in relation to abstraction, non-objective or formalistic art of the classical modern and neo-avant-garde, from Constructivism to Colour Field paintings, and in other ways to more recent developments that could be called neo-formalism.
